I plan on buying it once I can afford it, and I'll most likely record my bands next album using it (and we have really nice outboard preamps/guitar heads. In terms of actual preamp modeling, LePou is DEFINITELY my favorite free model set. If you don't use Logic, LePou has a really good one called LeCab. If you use Logic, you can use Space Designer to load them. You will, however, need an IR loader to use them. These all work really well, and are free. If you put the IR after your amp model, it will have the sound of a mic'd up speaker, instead of the horrible "box of bees" sound that a guitar head has without a cabinet.įree IRs: Some good ones are the Gods Cab IRs, the Catharsis Fredman IRs, and the GuitarHack Irs. In these downloads, the IRs aren't reverb, but guitar cabinet models. Use different models to suit your needs.įor anybody who doesn't know, an IR is a frequency/time domain model of an acoustic source. Note that I mostly record metal and hardcore, so thats where I'll be pointing in terms of tone ideas, but all of the ideas apply across the genre/sound spectrum. Now that I'm on my computer, though, here's what I was talking about.
